Robert Gully, the mastermind behind Ripcord Guitars, has a unique blend of passion for music and an impressive military background that has uniquely shaped his approach to the craft of luthiery. His love affair with music and the guitar began at an early age, eventually leading him to study at the renowned Guitar Institute of Technology in Hollywood.
Parallel to his musical journey, Robert served a distinguished career in the US Army Special Forces, earning him the nickname "Ripcord Rob". The intense mental and physical challenges, coupled with the worldly experiences he garnered in the service, forged his character and honed his capabilities.
After leaving the army, Robert channeled his strengths and focus back into his first love – music. He attended the Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery and became a certified luthier, combining his skills and love for music to create something truly extraordinary. This was when the idea of Ripcord Guitars was born - a nod to his military past, and an outlet for his passion for guitars.
Robert's rich background and experiences are etched into every guitar he crafts, repairs, or modifies, making Ripcord Guitars not just a brand but a manifestation of his life's journey. He is on a mission to provide fellow musicians with hand-crafted, custom guitars that are tonally exceptional and aesthetically exquisite, inspired by his lifetime love of music and unparalleled worldly experiences.
